I saw this post about the Exhumed Art Exhibit and felt that familiar pull, that need to see how other artists translate the raw and the buried into something physical. It got me thinking about my own creative dead ends last month when I was trying to prototype a fragile, bone-like structure for a small sculpture. I remembered finding a bunch of cool things to 3d print that helped me test the joints and negative space without wasting expensive materials. The precision of those game-inspired files taught me that sometimes you have to build a clean digital skeleton before you can exhume a messy, emotional one from clay and wire.
